Lynyrd Skynyrd 1966 -1977
Introduction to the Blog.
The True History.
There are many myths surrounding the band Lynyrd Skynyrd. It has been 55 years since the formation of a Band back in the summer of 1966, they first went by the name the "Pretty Ones".
Although they only played one gig with that name, it was Christmas party for Ronnie's brother-in-law, Bill Morris.
First Gig:
In October 1966!
Ronnie, Bob, Allen and Gary! Perform for the first time at St. Matthews Fall (Halloween) Carnival.
They had No Name and No Bass Player, and because of this they got a friend, Billy Skaggs to play Rhythm Guitar to fill in the gaps! and he also owned a Super Reverb Amp.

Second Gig :
Was a Christmas Party!!
"The Pretty Ones"
Allen,14 y.o.. Gary,14 3/4... Bob,15 3/4... Ronnie, 18 y.o..

"The Pretty Ones" Did Not actually play anywhere, other than a Christmas Party for Ronnie’s boss and brother in law, Bill Morris.
Then not long after this they changed to the "Noble Five" that they began working at the city’s youth centers, primarily Southside and Brad Tredinnick, as well as the few privately owned teen clubs around town.!
There was even a Radio Ad announcing that "The Noble Five" were playing at Westside Teen Club.
Lynyrd Skynyrd formed in the summer of 1966, at a Green Pigs Junior baseball game, this is where Bob Burns and Gary Rossington met Ronnie Van Zant, this is the day the band began.
my history research does go a little before 1966, with some history in 1964 and 1965, When Allen Collins was in the Mods, and Ronnie Van Zant was in The Squires, / they changed their name to "Us".
There are 50 years of stories and myths, and i like to find the real stories, with out the Sugarcoating.
Just because it is on the internet doesn't mean it is true!
